1896

Kamataro Kobayashi, a founder, opened a private shop called "Kobayashi's Ink Shop" at Honshirokane-cho, Nihonbashi, Tokyo (Present address of Hongoku-cho, Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku).
1907
Incorporated (with capital of 300,000 yens and total stocks of 6,000 shares) under the name of Toyo Ink Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
Transferred the head office to Minami Kaji-cho, Kyobashi-ku (Present location).
1908

Introduced the first ink sample book in the industry.
1923
Great Kanto Earthquake occurred. Temporarily provided the Printing Bureau of the Ministry of Finance with the production facility of the Tomihisacho Plant and contributed to the revival from the earthquake disaster.
1926
Opened the first overseas branch office in Shanghai, China.
1936
Opened a branch office in Keijo (Presently Seoul, Korea).
1951
Obtained technical cooperation in printing ink with Interchemical Corporation (Presently, BASF) of the USA.
1952

Began application of resin-based ink for carton box of cigarette brand Peace.
1957
Started marketing of resin-type multi-purpose inks Speed King series, which took the market by storm.
1961
Opened the first representative office in Hong Kong after WW II.
Stocks listed in Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
1962
Launched the production of rubber adhesives Oribain.
1964
Started domestic production of Double Face double-sided tape for industrial use.
1967
Stocks listed in First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
1971
Released ultraviolet curing ink Flash Dry series.
1973
Set up Environmental Awareness Committees at each plant.
1975
Established Toyo Ink Europe S.A. in Brussels, Belgium.
1976
Established Toyo Ink America, Inc. (Presently, Toyo Ink America, LLC and Toyo Ink Group) in New Jersey, USA.
1984
Started production of the electrostatic toner.
1985
Established Nihon Scitex Co., Ltd., a joint venture with Scitex Corporation Ltd. of Israel.
1986
Introduced the corporate concept "i & i (Image & Interface)".
1988
Established Toyo Ink International Corp. in New Jersey, USA
Opened LioChem Inc. in Georgia, USA.
1993
Instituted the long-term vision Take Off 2007.
Established Tianjin Toyo Ink Co., Ltd. in Tianjin-city, China.
1994
Started the domestic sale of "E-Print 1000", the world's first full color digital on-demand printer.
1995

Started Worldwide 5-Region Network System.
1997
Aroma-free newspaper ink received the first "Eco-Mark" in Japan.
2000

Formed capital alliance with Sakata Inx Corporation.
Established Toyo Ink (Middle East) Fze. in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Established Logi Co-Net Corp. and ga city Corp., the joint venture with Sakata Inx Corporation.
2002
Construction of the resist ink plant for the LCD color filters in Moriyama completed.
2003
Established Shanghai Toyo Ink Mfg. Co., Ltd. in Shanghai, China.
Adopted the group business concept "Value You Can See".
2004
Developed a unique color conversion technology for color universal design.
2005
Developed groundbreaking Kaleido process ink that reproduces a range of color that was previously thought to be impossible
2007
Celebrated the 100th anniversary of our founding.
